Career Guidance Seminar 2024 for Catholic Students
On April 20th, 2024, students from the Catholic community attended a career guidance seminar hosted at Don Bosco, Park Circus. This event was meticulously organized by the Catholic Teachers' Guild and proved to be an enlightening experience for the attendees. Accompanying the students were Ms. D. D'Costa and Ms. A. Roy, who ensured their smooth participation throughout the day.
The seminar commenced at 9:30 a.m. with an inspiring motivational speech and song delivered by Rev. Bishop Nirmal Gomes. Following this, Rev. Fr. Anthony Rodrique, the esteemed head of Seva Kendra, enlightened the audience with his insights into non-formal education. The session was both informative and thought-provoking.
Subsequently, The Little Sisters of the Poor (St. Joseph's Home) showcased a concise yet impactful PowerPoint presentation, shedding light on their noble initiatives. This was followed by an engaging talk by Rev.Fr. Sebastian James, Vice Principal of St. Xaviers Collegiate School who elaborated on the diverse callings and vocations one can pursue in life. His discourse resonated deeply with the students, encouraging them to introspect and identify their own unique paths.
To cater to the varied interests and aptitudes of the attendees, the seminar featured sessions led by expert resource persons. Students were guided to different classrooms, each representing a distinct field of interest. These ranged from music, teaching, psychology, journalism, hospitality to medicine, management, law, IT sector, baking, and media. This diverse array of options allowed students to explore potential career paths and gain valuable insights.
Recognizing the importance of financial literacy, the organizers also provided information on student loans specifically tailored for Catholic students. This initiative aimed to alleviate concerns related to financing higher education, empowering students to pursue their academic and career aspirations without undue financial stress.
The seminar concluded on a positive note with a refreshment session. Overall, the event proved to be a resounding success, leaving the attendees motivated and equipped with clearer perspectives on their future endeavors.
