“Make your life a masterpiece; imagine no limitations on what you can be, have or do.”
is a renowned statement made by Brian Tracy. This truth preached, learnt and practised in Loreto Day School, Bowbazar in every course of action.
For us, student council members, as well as all the other students, the school is an emotion. We are not only, profoundly connected to it, but we also idolise it, for making us strong enough to explore and discover the various latitudes and horizons in our lives.
I being the Head girl, in an Institution such this, representing the school management, extend my sincerest gratitude to the Principal Ms P. Bagchi and the faculty members for entrusting the student council members with authority and responsibility. We shall strive to be worthy of that trust.
I greet the student body for making us feel worthy of achieving everything we want to and co-operating whole heartedly with us.
Most significantly we shall continue to hum “I can, instead of I can’t” to ourselves and serve this institution with all our love, integrity, patience and respect.
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
- Malcom X
In my view and experience, Loreto Day School, Bowbazar is a garden of education where each child is like a delicate bud which is allowed to bloom into a beautiful flower in its space, with its unique colour and fragrance.
It grooms the child into a social being but at the same time respects its individuality. It believes in making a student morally, spiritually, mentally and physically strong for which it organizes different kinds of social, cultural and educational events and encourages the students to participate in them. The dignity of labour is respected here. It is my good fortune that I have been a part of this ethos and have benefitted from it immensely.
Thus, I, on behalf of the Student Council, thank the Principal and the Staff for choosing us as office bearers of the Council and for providing us with the opportunity of serving the school.
The Student Council 2018-2019 promises to work for the dignity and integrity of the school in accordance with the rules and regulations. We intend to maintain the high standards of the school, uphold its ideals and traditions and perform faithfully the duties of our office.
For this we seek first the Almighty’s blessings. We ask for a mind which is led forward by Him into ever widening thought and action. Thereafter, we seek the guidance of our Principal and teachers and cooperation from our school mates.
Finally, as my prayer, I quote Rabindra Nath Tagore, “And it shall be my endeavour to reveal Thee in my actions, knowing it is Thy power gives me strength to act.”
“Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.”
Loreto Day School, Bowbazar is not merely as educational institution, it is an EMOTION; an emotion that makes us strong, tough and resilient.
The family members endeavour to empower us with knowledge, and ensure our holistic development in spheres ranging from intellectual, spiritual, psychological to social. A deep sense of commitment and awareness of values is instilled among us since the day we step into the premises. Our school does not educate us for a living but provide us with education for life. It shows seed of sincerity, gratitude, harmony, responsibility and many more. We reminded time and again that
“Winners are those losers who never give up” therefore we are motivated to continue our quest for perfection in all our undertakings. Loreto not only enlightens us in academics but also nurtures us in all dimensions of life.
Thus on behalf of the Student Council I, Head Girl, Pratyashaa Paul would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Principal Ms. I.Ganguly, an the faculty members for entrusting us with the responsibility of serving the school as it heads towards another promising year. The student Council will try their level best to live upto the expectations of one and all carry out duties religiously and diligently.
As our Loreto chorus states, “Loreto standards bearers we…” We promise to live upto Mary Ward’s wish of
“Women in time to come will do much”.
Rabindranath Tagore once said,
The Education system in Loreto realizes the goals set by our foundress Mary
Ward, who saw Justice, Integrity, Freedom and Love as integral qualities for any
person. The goal of the Loreto institution is the spiritual, intellectual and social
growth of the individual and the moulding and shaping of students to become the
pillars of tomorrow.
We all come here, not only to learn, to gain knowledge but also to infuse
within ourselves personal growth and to serve people and society at large.
India is a land of great diversity, and unity lies in diversity but what our
country needs today our people who will bring about change and not merely
speak of change and thus I believe that the Student Council 2016-2017 will live up
to the proverb,
We hope that with the cooperation of the students, the faith and trust of
our Principal, teachers and staff members, we will strive for excellence in the
academic year 2016-2017.
Just like the Student Council 2015-2016, we hope that God will lead us
from the unreal to the real, from the bondage of ignorance to the freedom of
“Ondhokarer utsha hote utsharito alo
Shai to tomar bhalo”…
Education is all about exploring vast possibilities and growing up to be unique individuals.
The School sets challenges different from those at home and while coping with these hurdles, one learns to be independent, to interact with different people and in the process one becomes competent enough to handle challenging tasks. Loreto not only educates a child nurtures her in all dimensions of her life – from spiritual, moral, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social to physical.
Thus, it gives me immense pleasure to serve my school as it heads towards yet another promising year. On behalf of the members of the Student Council, I would like to thank our Principal Mrs. K. Dutt, our teachers and staff-members for believing in us and entrusting us with the responsibility and honour of taking our school forward. On this occasion, I would also like to congratulate my fellow council members for their zeal and for accepting this challenging task enthusiastically. Finally, I wish to thank the students for their co-operation. Let us together strive for excellence for the academic year 2015-16.
May God lead us from ignorance to truth; from darkness to light.
