CURRICULUM

The medium of instruction of this Institution is ENGLISH. Bengali and Hindi are taught as 2nd language from Classes I – XII. 3rd Language is compulsory from Classes V to VIII.The students are prepared for the I.C.S.E examination till Class X. Class XI and XII students take the Higher Secondary Examination (Science and Humanities only.) In addition to the subjects prescribed by the Council, the Curriculum includes Religious Instruction (for Catholics) and Value Education (for non-Catholics) as compulsory subjects. Inter-personal skills, creativity, confidence, poise, communication and reliability are some of the qualities developed through co-curricular activities. Hence, such activities are essential in the school programme. These activities include Debate, Elocution, Art and Craft, Quiz, Dance, Music, Drama, Physical Training, Needlework, Karate etc. These activities are organised either House wise or Class wise. There are four Houses, which have their own colours and names. Each House is headed by an elected Captain and Vice-captain.Basketball coaching is also made available from 7:30 to 8:25 am from Monday to Saturday.

Y.C.S., L.T.S., J.P.I.C., Bulbul and GuidesClasses VIII – XII are given opportunities for development of personality and leadership skills through movements like Y.C.S, L.T.S, J.P.I.C., Guides etc. Students are taken on educational tours and occasional ‘live-ins’, accompanied by a teacher, when appropriate.Y.C.S (Young Christian Students) gives opportunities to become involved in liturgy including choir, both at the school and the parish level.J.P.I.C. (Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation) helps the students to reflect and act on issues pertaining to injustice, environment gender bias and other social challenges, faced on a day to day basis in the country and the world at large.L.T.S. (Leadership Training Service) helps the students to put God above self through prayer and social service activities, thereby creating future leaders. L.T.S. challenges the students to value themselves so that they become responsible citizens of the country and the world. Guides and Bulbuls – Students are encouraged to train as Bulbuls and Guides in preparation to form NCC. This is part of our training in discipline and service to the Nation.
