Principal's Message

Greetings from Loreto Day School Bowbazar!

John Dewey had said “Education is not preparation for life but life itself”

In order to give this education a true substance I along with my dedicated group of staff are trying to make education more meaningful. We do not want to limit any child‘s learning to our own for she is born at another time. We are encouraging and enabling each child to move on.

Loreto day School Bowbazar stands for an education where we wish to empower women, following the goals set by Mary Ward of Integrity, Justice, Freedom and Love as essential qualities for any person. Hence keeping with this ethos we are not merely filling the students’ mind with information but teaching them to live in harmony with all existence.

“Tell me and I’ll forget, Show me I may not remember, Involve me and I’ll understand”. This is very true for any learner. I have taken this cue as a method of teaching whereby we are giving the students full freedom to explore, involve and engage. Our instruction does not end in the classroom only; it spreads in their concern for the society and environment as well. We stand for social justice, environmental concern, fitness of mind and body vis a vis wellness of mind and body.

Having portrayed the educational outline I would like to highlight the entire essence on which education of Loreto Bowbazar stands, which being Value based education. We uphold ethics and unbiased judgement and groom our students ‘intelligence and character, for we know nothing can stop a person with the right attitude from achieving his |her goal.

I borrow Winston Churchill’s words before I end “Success is not final; failure is not Fatal it is the courage that counts”.

Best wishes and prayers for all.
